The city of Nha Trang has become more popular with the tourists in recent years. With a population of 300,000, Nha Trang still retains its small town atmosphere. Nha Trang has the nicest municipal beach in all of Vietnam coupled with the friendliness of its people. The city is flanked by nearly ten kilometers of prime beach where the water is warm year round. Nha Trang is located 1,287 km south of Hanoi, 624 km south of Hue and 442 km from Ho Chi Minh city (Saigon). Nha Trang has several famous islands. Most notable are Hon Tre, Hon Yen, Hon Rua and the Spratly islands.

The turquoise waters around Nha Trang are almost transparent making it excellent for fishing, snorkelling and scuba diving. Nha Trang is part of an area referred to in travel guides as the Central Coast.

Dont's:
Shoes are to be removed when visiting homes or Buddhist Temples. Do not point the bottom of your feet towards other people or Buddhist statues. This is not universal so watch what others are doing.

Shorts are considered inappropriate attire and are allowed to be worn by children. In recent times in the main cities, it has been considered fashionable by women. However, it is still not widely accepted and has not yet filtered to the hinterlands. Again, check what people are wearing around you.

Leaving chopsticks sticking upright (vertically) in a rice bowl is not appreciated as this is a powerful death sign. In doing so this indicates incense sticks which are burned for the dead.
